Air-Sealing Band/Rim Joists

The band/rim joist is a common area of air leakage. Fiberglass batt insulation alone does nothing to stop air infiltration. In this picture we are using a two-part urethane spary applied foam that will air-seal AND insulate.

Blower Door

Blower Door testing is an integral part of every Energy Audit performed by High Performance Home. By measuring air flow, while slightly de-pressurizing your house, a Blower Door test determines the actual air-tightness of your home. This is the first step necessary prior to any Air Sealing. Also, If we perform Air Sealing for you, we will "Test Out," which means we will do another Blower Door test after the work is complete to quantify how effective the air sealing was, and to ensure your home's ventilation is within safe and healthy levels.

Attic Insulation

One of the most important areas to address is your Attic. Here we added loose fill insulation after we air-sealed penetrations in the ceiling, top wall plates, and chase walls. We also added a Cat Walk so access to the attic will not disturb the insulation.

Thermal Imaging

Using the newest technology in infrared imaging, we can find those areas in your home that show a thermal gain or loss with energy. Using these images, we can then best determine the route to recommend for reducing those loses to your house and to your wallet.
